Our Vision

Fehr & Peers will transform transportation consulting as the most trusted partner in the communities we serve.

Our mission defines what we set out to accomplish every day. Our focus is on empowering our staff to develop productive solutions. Improving communities doesn’t end with our professional consulting, though. We also support and invest in industry knowledge-sharing, non-profits, and professional organizations working for transportation progress.

Our core values represent guiding principles, and define the fundamental and important relationships between our company, our employees, and our clients.

Diversity and Inclusion

Fehr & Peers DC is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. Systemic and structural racism, violence, and our collective history of discrimination in both this nation and the planning profession have no place in our vision for community flourishing and transportation industry transformation. We remain resolved to foster transformation, working together for racial justice. We celebrate and value our similarities and differences with respect to a wide range of areas including gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, age, physical abilities, veteran status, religious belief, academic background, and professional experience. Our philosophy on Diversity and Inclusion is centered around four themes:

Learn more

Diversity and Inclusion has been a key focus for Fehr & Peers since our inception in 1985. While we are proud of the progress we’ve made over the years, we realize that we have much more work to do and we are continually seeking ways to improve. We do so by routinely engaging a broad group of staff from around the company in conversations to identify ways to further evolve our Diversity and Inclusion efforts at both the company-wide and office level. This includes regular group meetings, annual actions, and periodic company-wide reporting of metrics such as:

  • Recruiting statistics including our target universities, diversity-focused events, etc.
  • Diversity of our workforce compared to industry averages and the communities we serve
  • Diversity of our workforce for various staff levels
  • Gender pay equity analysis
  • Corporate equality index

We are also continually investing in our staff to improve the Diversity and Inclusion aspects of our consulting skills through such means as company-wide training programs on equity, trust-building, communication, and cognitive bias; as well as new services to clients in the areas of community engagement and conflict resolution.

We have a diverse perspective on diversity.

We define inclusion to mean everyone.

Our benefit offerings include everyone.

We seek to exemplify Diversity and Inclusion in our consulting services.

Advancing the Industry

Transforming transportation consulting is a key motivator for all of the work we do. Beyond our consulting work with clients, we also are actively involved in many aspects of the industry to advance the state-of-the-practice and individuals working within it. Below are a few examples of how we actively contribute:

We support and maintain leadership positions within transportation industry professional organizations, including ITE, WTS, NACTO, APA, and TRB.

Our staff members consistently present and share our research and development findings and client innovations at industry conferences nationwide.

We value and participate in knowledge sharing and information seeking through our website, in person at events, and through publications or web-based media.

We continually explore different and better ways of serving our clients through our investments in research and development and frequent contact with clients to understand their changing needs.

Through our subsidiary, Left Lane Advisors, we provide professional consulting services to companies, institutions, and public agencies in the industry seeking to advance the potential and services provided by their leaders.
